Sheriff Timothy Soignet, born in Houma and is the youngest of five children of Magdelene and Raoul Soignet. After graduating from H.L. Bourgeois High School in 1985, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was sent to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. He attended Infantry Training School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and served as an Infantryman in 6th Marine Regiment.
Sheriff Randy Smith is a 35-year veteran law enforcement officer. A native of Slidell and a lifetime resident of St. Tammany Parish, Randy has dedicated himself to serving the public and advancing law enforcement his entire life. Prior to his becoming Sheriff of St. Tammany Parish in 2016, he was the elected Chief of the Slidell Police Department from May 2010 until June 2016. In 2019 Sheriff Smith ran for re-election and won against Tim Lentz. Sheriff Smith is proud to serve as the 42nd Sheriff in the 207-year history of St. Tammany Parish.
