I apologize for the late notice. Yesterday evening after getting home and unwinding from the events that happened with 336250’s early release on Wednesday being blocked after media interviews and inquiries, I found out that HB 508 will be on Criminal Justice’s agenda in Room 6 (next to where Appropriations meets) at 9:30a tomorrow (April 6th), the very day Todd Michael Duquette was supposed to leave Rayburn on good behavior time.
If you are able to attend the committee hearing in Baton Rouge at the state capital to support myself and the Becnel family, please do your best to. Thanks in advance.
PS: wear teal if possible, the color for sexual violence awareness.
HB 508 will make DOC notify victims at least 30 days not the current 10 before release of an offender. They will also be required to notify law enforcement and DA’s etc.
The Becnel’s endured the release of their sexual abuser for a month wasn’t eligible for release until 2029. They weren’t even notified as required by law. Like Duquette makes headlines in BR, Matherne makes headlines in NOLA. Both offenders are housed at Rayburn transplanted from Angola.
